Not only do they deliver amazing advertisements that are always relevant and in alignment with what is in our headlines, but the manner in which they manage to tie Public Relations and Advertising into a spicy mix is commendable! Although some of the advertisements have been kicked of TV after a day or two of airing, Nandos advertisements continue to be some of the most interesting and funniest advertisements that raise important issues in a humorous light. Whether it's religion, politics or hot issues Nandos have managed to leave their mark on it if public are interested in it.
Nandos have a very interactive website that true to the brand as a whole and filled with many different components that other restaurants fail to grasp. The Nandos website is also themed in accordance to the brand as a whole which is particularly of interest because we are in a time when most other restaurants are moving to a more urban and modern look. The Public Relations demonstrated by Nandos is not just limited to Advertising, but is the cohesiveness in the advertisement, the website, the look and feel of the brand, the brand identity and the way it is communicated to the public and stakeholders.
They are able to communicate with their stakeholders all over the world on various mediums outside of the website including their Twitter handle and Facebook page to ensure that they meet the requirements of their customers. While there are many restaurants, Nando's continues to be on a level that is above standard especially in South Africa.
There more successful Public Relations campaigns and many examples of Public Relations but Nandos has continued to raise the bar time and time again.

Unlike marketing and advertising, PR allows for a 'wing-wing' ;) situation that benefits both the organisation and the pulic with the two-way communication.
ReplyDeleteAs for "wing-wing' situation...love the play on words there
DeleteThats very true! Its amazing how Public Relations (PR) can benefit the organisation using simple mechamisms
ReplyDeletePersonally I think their campaigns are successful in the public relations eye. Your piece didn't really define the other two that is Advertising and Marketing. In that regard, I think Nando's might be grabbing the public's attention but it's not necessarily grabbing our taste buds. The adverts may be funny and relevant but they are not as tantalizing as they should be, since one spends too much time concentrating on the joke rather than the actual food.
DeleteHey wendy, While not everyone will feel the advertisements grab their tastebuds, the brands popularity makes it relevant and a majority of their target publics do support the brand with more than just laughs. I am one of those people. The blog is afterall focused on public relations and not advertising or marketing, but advertising in this context is merely making advertisements on various mediums to make the public aware of the product while marketing is means of selling the brand and finding platforms to advertise. Very contextual definitions
DeleteVery well said. Whether people love it or not, Nando's is one of the biggest brands around and it wouldn't be where it is today if it wasn't for Public Relations magic.
ReplyDeletethats true Puseletso, and it remains a relevant and interesting brand because of the Public Relations
ReplyDeleteIts true hey, Nando's continues to raise the bar every time, which is very important in Public Relations.
